There were magnifying spectacles for early reflex cameras, you didn't wear them instead they hung in the focus hood. Imagine the above with combined spectacles to aid focusing.

I've got the modern day version made by Sinar. It works great.
 
A similar idea , I had the opticians make a pair of glasses specifically for large format photography.
The left lens is for distance use , the right lens is for viewing the ground glass at about 4" distance .
I first had them made for use with a Crown Graphic with a pop up hood .
When focussing I could work without a loupe , when I looked up to check the scene my left eye took over .
Takes a bit of getting used to , but easy enough and saves keep changing glasses over .
A bit like I image wearing a monacal .
