Show Us Your Camera Bag

Welcome Paul. Some advice, keep loaded DDS film holders in sealable plastic bags, at least before exposure, it makes a huge difference in preventing dust issues. I put a couple of holders in each bag.

Ian

Now use sealable bags for the film holders also added a 'lightweight' set of gear for when I need to get further away from the car. Horseman 45HD with three lenses (105mm Fujinon, Nikon 200mm, with a 135 Sironar-n in the folded camera). All contained with a cheap K&F concept bag from Amazon.Without the tripod comes to 5.4kg compared with the Arca set at 12.0kg.

Over some years of carrying LF gear I have learned that the insert of a bag isn't that important - I can co everything I want, within my bag.
To me other things are of importance:
I don't want to feel like a wet fish so I don't want to have a bag directly connected with my rear.
I don't want so stress my rear, AND I don't want to stress my shoulders/neck. So I need a good carrying system.

Next I will try this one, where I can add bags with the MOLLE system, if needed:

If it will not work to me I will buy a Tatonka which I want do do since years, especially for my 12x126" camera:

For the 5x4 I use an old Lowe Pro, Pro Trekker. Plenty of room over to squeeze extras in. The 6x9 has a Nature Trekker AW 11. It can get past Ryanair boarding security as a carry on. I have a more modern Gitzo bag I use for the ETRSI and 35mm. Worse thing I paid for to carry anything in!
Cheers

Hey! I have the exact same bag. I bought it second hand.

Well going through every other bag and playing Tetris for a few hours I finalised on this setup for now.
Its the biggest bag I currently own, made by Calumet back in the day.

PXL_20240628_160629328.jpg

At present if I wish to take any of my 35mm / digital / pinhole gear etc... that all needs to go in a seperate bag.
I may at some point look at a smaller setup for when I want to carry other cameras etc... all together but I am happy with this at present.
Having used it a few times now the setup is actually a doddle and I would argue quicker than trying to setup something like an intrepid.

I've been using a cool bag for my DDS'. I can fit eight in there and the insulation is helpful if I have them in my topbox on the bike in warm weather.

With reference to the above bag. It arrived.

First impression...Its substantially made.
The outer casing is of canvas. (Best DIY waxed against wet weather)
All stowage compartments are zippered.
The large central pocket will take a 5x4 camera and dark cloth and other items.
It has a pocket either end that will take at least 6 x 5x4 holders EACH (!)
and also 2 pockest on the front (one larger than the other) - and 1 on the rear of the bag..
There are two small inner pockets inside the main one for personal items (mobile etc).
It has an adjustable (and removeable) shoulder strap. NOTE that this bag also has carrying handle which covers the hand carrying straps and has to be "unvelcroed" so the hand carrying handles fall either side of the bag to allow the main compartment to be unzipped (otherwise it will impede proper access to the large interior space.)

Was it worth the money (£30.50??) Yes. I like it. Time and use will tell.
Not a lot more one can say...

I use an old laptop shoulder bag - it's perfect to accomodate the bulk of my MPP and a few loaded holders, without being too big and bulky. Funny thing is, when I go out LFing, I only take what's needed, in contrast to my miniature outings, when I take everything but the kitchen sink.

I know waxed canvas is nice and all that, TBH I'm not sold on using bags made from natural fibres for cameras, and doubly so if there's any wet weather on the cards. You see a LOT of classic cameras knackered by fungus, and the main culprit seems to be old fabric-lined leather everyready cases and the like. I strongly suspect natural fibre camera bags present a huge fungus risk.....It's synthetics and cordura all the way for me I'm afraid.

ONA shoulder bag

Holds:
•wista 45vx
•nikkor 90mm f8, FUJINON 135mm f5.6(in camera), nikkor 210mm f5.6
•three holders
•sekonic L-558
•mamiya x5 loupe
• cable release, leveler, tape measure, note pad, dark cloth.

This is great when I want to place this bag in my Brompton big bag when cycling. I may need a backpack as it’s a just about doable. If I want to use more of the holders I have or I finally get hold of the 90mm f4.5 the shoulder bag won’t be large enough.

I saw a lowepro tactic BP 350 AWII for £50. I’m not sure if it will fit my large format gear.

Peli hard case containing:

Jon Nesbitt 7x5 field camera (currently with 5x4 back attached )
Sneider Kreuznach 120mm F8 Super Angulon
Rodenstock 180mm Siranar- N F5.6
Nikkor-W 240mm F5.6

All the other stuff goes in a lightweight shoulder bag. Weighing about 13kg for the case and contents, this is "designed" for use quite near to a carpark. I have lighter 4x5s for more portable excursionsIMG_9993 1800.jpeg

Surprisingly in my main bag I found my three lens heavier together than the Intepid 5 x 4 so got a smaller bag for them. and a few odds and end.s...
I had a collegue on the newspaper I worked for who was a photog. Carried camera (think it was a VN) with all the plate holders
flash bulbs and big flash gun all in a large leather case.. In those days the morning paper guys did all their jobs for the day and got back to the office around 4pm.....did the developing and printing and then took them down to the subs table.

He..walked bent slightly forward and lopsided :) - (and they used public transport to get around in those days (late 40 early 50s)

A golden age ! Its nice to have everything when you go out but it is paid for with the stooping of the back.

I have a backpack that can take the camera 1 lens and all the bits and pieces required so it will occasionally see some miles!

It was a different age...I got told to leave the court by Justice Christmas Humphries High Court judge when I attended as part of a journalist training scheme . when he spotted me and asked my age..(it was a carnal knowledge case that came up )...and I was 16.....too much for an under age youth in those days....I was told to leave the courtroom......

However..I digress....
I actually thought of using one of those pull along shopping trolleys.....but thought Naa☺️

The small bag I have is a cool bag so I bought an insert for it which has a couple of separators for velcro attachment inside..
Chinese vendor. I just about managed to squeeze in three lens attached to their lensboards....If buying chck sizes available as they seem to vary from seller to seller.
