New to me....

I have been looking out for one for a while.

:)

Inspired by Martin's pinhole photography I had to have a go and found myself getting more and more into it. Since I have a pinhole for the intrepid 4x5 I avoided getting another 4x5 so I treated myself to a Zero Image 8x10 and a 6x18 too (which does every format from 6x4.5 up to 6x18)

Just bought this MPP 5x4 Micro Technical MK VI.
I think it had been stored in a shed as it had a very bad musty damp smell. I got rid if the smell by putting it in a box with a UV-C light source. This has the effect of killing any fungus & mold and also generates ozone which is great at removing old damp smells.
I have given it a good clean so looking forward to trying it out :)

Welcome. You sound like someone who has some useful tips to pass on. Interesting tripod.

Thanks for the welcome. :)
The tripod is a MPP tripod and for its age it has some great features. The bottom section of the legs are reversible so you can either have spikes or rubber feet. The screw that attaches to the base of the camera can be turned around so you can choose between 1/4" or 3/8" and there is a hand crank for panning left and right. It's also fairly light weight.

If it's not too crass to ask, would love to know how much this set you back. I fancy one and they often come up on ebay, but sometimes priced at £500 (or more) which is more than I paid for my Sinar.

I follow Flints Auctions, and they have sold some over the years for under £200.

I bought it off eBay. I got the camera, 6 off 5x4 dark slides, a 6x6 120 back and the case for £400.
I paid £80 for the tripod.

Thats pretty good, looks like a decent enough lens too!

That's a good fair price for the camera considering you have the case, DDS and roll film back. I saw a MkVI at Wolverhampton Camera Fair yesterday and the seller was asking £350 it had a spring back. Your's would be a late MkVI if it had a Graflok back.

Assuming it's the camera from Pontefract with a Linhof marked Xenar lens it doesn't have a Graflok back so the roll film holder won't fit. There are a different style of roll film holders that will fit cameras with spring backs, but they don't get listed very often on eBay.

It is the one from Pontefract and like you say it doesn't have a Graflock back.
However I can easily attach the 120 film holder by removing the top spring, removing the screen and using a couple of rubber bands to hold it on. :)120.JPG

I finally used my J.H. Dallmeyer 10" f4 Quick Acting Portrait Petzval two days ago, made in 1863, that I bought for £30 last Autumn. It covers 5x4 possibly Half plate (or 7x5) at a push. It's too large to use on my 5x4 cameras so here s sat on one of my 10x8 Agfa Ansco cameras, and I used a 5x4 reducing back.

The negatives made with the lens are mazing for a 160-year-old lens, scans of prints will follow, I shot Nicola using the camera below with the Dallmeyer Petzvaltis one is digital.

The film shots will follow :D

Happy that I got to visit that Dallmeyer 10" lens. Looking forward to seeing the images you create with it.

Whole plate field camera, 1890s-ish (or possibly earlier given the drips of silver chemistry everywhere) Looks like a Houghton but no labels. Recently restored with help from @Ian Grant, new, smart green bellows from Custom Bellows and a lot of elbow grease and fretting from yours truly.
Half-plate William Hurst f/7.5 81/2" lens.
Now in regular use with 5x7 film/paper adaptors in 3 wooden plate holders.
All very light-weight and fun to use. Next thing on my wish-list is a whole-plate lens for this camera, so if anyone has an 'extra' one around . . .
