you are correct but OP did not buy the 23 type Wista back, earlier in the thread is the Wista back made for the wooden Wistas, there was an wooden Wista with a grafloc back they are quite rare and it’s not a pretty , metal Wista have the grafloc sliders.

Somewhere in the past I posted a screenshot of the original cost of the Wista field Graflok back but I can't remember on which thread. They were pretty much made to order which is why there don't seem to be many out there. The cost was similar to the whole camera. I was looking for one for many years and ended up buying a huge kit with lenses, roll film holders, a massive tripod, developing tanks and racks, film holders etc just because I wanted the Graflok back. The previous owner paid £600+ just for the back from Japan decades ago.

About a year ago, I finally could sell a Horseman 6x9 Graflock 54 back for about €110.- after long waiting, insisting and posting all around on different fora, as nobody wanted it...​

Horseman is not less than a Wista.​

I’m talking about the Graflok back which fits onto the back of a Wista 5x4 camera with the ground glass etc. Not a roll film back. Unless I misunderstood you.

What I was trying to say is that it is rather easy to find a roll film back for a 4"x5" camera at an affordable price.
And that these backs are simple and easy to use, are an alternative for the rather expensive sheet film, which, by the way, is getting expensive by the day (due to the evolving geopolitical situation?)...

But, you are right, that post wasn't entirely to the point (neither is this one?)...

Well it took about three weeks but finally I have the film holder, fits like a charm.

Sorry for my ignorance but does the glass spring back not come off this camera, because this roll film holder doesn't look like a traditional slide in back type?

As I understand it, this mount is a Graflex 54, but if the spring mounted GG folds out wide enough, the holder can be inserted between the camera's flange and the GG frame.
Be aware that the blind slide holder doesn't scratch the GG.

Yes it’s a fixed spring system - back rotates in the take it off and put it back style but the gg sprung frame does not come off without a screw driver - the Wista spring system has the capacity to allow a “fat” back in , the plate on the back has 4 rubber buffers to protect the gg.

Additionally there are no sliders it’s not a grafloc , without the spring back the roll film holder will fall off

I suppose it's swings and roundabouts, there's equal risk by removing the gg as there is of inserting the rfh.
Out of curiosity, does it require nimble fingers winding on after each frame?

That’s a good point , I am away from home at the moment so I cannot post a picture, but my Wista rfb has an extended wind knob so it pokes up past the gg frame and is easier to wind - it’s quite distinctive tall knob version

I didn't know about the rubbers as my 2 film backs don't have that holder.

The Wista RF holder is easy to insert under the GG frame, but to wind it on you have to remove it slide the protector plate down to access the wind lever. Nit ideal but it I never found it an issue.

Actually I think they rest on the wooden frame edges not the actual gg
