Many areas on the tops of the North York Moors are fairly featureless but Spaunton Moor is interesting because there are hundreds of exposed boulders scattered across it. I like it because there is always something to photograph there. This was on FP4 with a home-made camera and Schneider 121mm Super Angulon lens.

Here is another from Spaunton Moor. The boulders are a hard sandstone called ganister. There is some argument among geologists whether they were carried down from Scotland during an Ice Age, or are local to the area.

The first image especially appeals. You have captured the desolate feel of these moors and the clouds are lovely.

Obviously fertile ground, photographically at least! I like the toning in this one and also, a small detail only, but the ridge in the top L corner. The arrangement of rocks works well, too.

Thank you for your comments. I'd like to say the ridge in the top left was deliberate. But it probably just sneaked in. It is a feature of the North York Moors.... distant ridges and seemingly endless space.
