Wondering if the adapters are available.

I have loads for 1/4" <> 3/8" looks like theodolite screws are 5/8"

Sure I have seen some on eBay over the years.

You could easily make something like this.

This one came in a job lot a few years ago. This one is home-made, but they were available commercially. The block with felt is just to allow space for the tripod screw.

You would need to set a threaded metal piece into top section of the bottom part to take the theodolite's 5/8" thread, or if female a 5/8" bolt. I have some spare parts if needed.

It’s hard to be specific without seeing the actual head, but surely all you have to do is remove the 5/8 screw and replace it with the size you need. You might need a wide washer underneath.
Otherwise, a quick internet search yields this. It’s the wrong way round as it enables a 3/8 screw to fit a 5/8 socket, but I include it to show that the problem is a known one.

Perfect.

I have some of those for 1/4 > 3/8 and vice versa. And if they make a male they will make a female.

Thanks, I think that is what I need (if and when I get a theodolite).
