I mixed up some Pyrocat HD last night at 1:1:100. and it looked like blackcurrant juice so I threw all the A away (dated July 2018)
I then mixed some more dated (Aug 2021) and this looked a much better colour.

The negatives (6x6cm) don't appear to have much stain. I used a water stop and was wondering if this could reduce staining or maybe its simply because I forgot the level of staining Pyro gives

Water stop doesn't affect the staining, neither does an acid stop bath, or acid fixer. Some films show more stain than others, HP5 stains exceptionally well. The colour of the stain can differ so maybe less noticeable, but it will be there.

Thanks, Ian, it is there but just not as strong as other films. This film was Fuji Acros 100 (the original one)
