I like this Ian, but personally I'd like to see a little more wall to the left of the arch and could do with a bit less on the right to balance things out. I'd also like to see the wall burnt down 1/2 a stop to draw the eye towards the view through the arch. Keep 'em coming.

I see the wall as being the main subject and would keep it as it is. What's through the arch and beyond is all background.
Having looked through the arch, I keep coming back to the wall. I find the masonry work, shapes and forms fascinating.
I see it as a beautifully delicate print celebrating mid-tones and the greyscale.
Again, the composition 'forces' the viewer to focus on the wall not on what lies beyond.

But we all see differently... :)

I agree. That's what makes discussing images so interesting and also why I had no interest in studying for photography qualifications because knowing my luck I'd see things differently to the tutor marking my work :p

To the left was a tree and a sign, I'm very much a purist, and was more interested in the wall, so I would not alter anything.

In parts of Turkey that were ancient Lydia and Lycia, you see very early walls built to withstand earthquakes, and in Peru you see the same but taken a bit further. Perhaps not a coincidence.
