It looks like I'm going to order from Keith Canham in the US.

Has anyone ever sourced any from outside the US?

My guess is there's no equivalent in Europe. (Of the special order service)

Dupli were Tetenal UK, the company imports and distributes products from a number of manufacturers.

I think it’s tricky for suppliers to stock less used LF sizes when the film has expiry dates and is seriously expensive hence the move to special orders , even B&W has ramped up in price , I have been lucky to find 7x5 and 10x8 B&W outdated film , 7x5 is manageable new but 10x8 has gone up enough to make it a harder decision.
That being said as a yearly planned purchase at one box a year it’s not so terrible compared with many hobbies, until you count any other formats you might shoot.

Just for some context, I have now ordered two boxes from Keith Canham in the US. I think that will last me for years and years. The price is pretty good (it works out quite a bit cheaper than 5x4).

But after I contacted them they said they had not had stock for a couple of years, the product page was open in the hopes they would get it again one day.

It looks to be similar for Dupli, there is no add to basket option on that page. So it's not in stock.

My guess is both sourced it from Keith Canham, and then added a some markup. (about £100 but the KC price varies depending on how many of his customers sign up per order). I suspect the US is the only place to order it from.

I have a friend who runs a large photo lab in Scandinavia, he has kindly sold me film in the past, his supplier said they could get colour 5x7 directly from Kodak, but it turned out the minimum order is 40 boxes. So I guess you would need a large customer base to sell these on.
 
I got some from Keith Canham quite a while back now. I've got Portra 160 and 400 from him, I developed a bit myself but haven't been getting on with the reels, I've backed the 8x10 tank Zebra's kickstarter together with together some adaptors to allow 8 x 5x7 sheets.
 
Hi jhotopf, have you managed to develop any C41 through the Zebra tank?
I'm interested to hear how you maintain temperature and any other learnings from the process.

I've only used it for B&W so far, but I've just received some 5x7 Portra 400 from Freestyle and will start developing that next month I'd have thought.
The film was excruciatingly expensive but having a box of 50 feels like I can play and learn, rather than being too precious and if I can get confident with the Zebra I'll likely use it for 5x4 c41 as I get through a bit more of that and have a back log to develop.
 
Wow that is good value, I need to recover from my portra purchase and will likely try it in 10x8.
How would you characterise the OptiColour 200 against say Portra 160?

Thanks for the review. Just read through and looked at the picture examples. I was interested in how skin tones were rendered, and from the few pictures of people, I wasn't a fan tbh. I've shot Cinestill 800 rated at 400 on set, doing BTS shots on 35mm format, and the colours were great.

I would love to see examples with studio portrait work with strobes or continuous lighting.

My friend is in Germany on tour atm and i was going to ask him to bring back a 4x5 pack. I'm kind of not interested now.

I don’t know if I’d recommend it for C41 8x10 as it takes quite a while to pour in the chemicals, I therefore stick to using relatively long times for B&W. Also you can’t monitor the temperature in the tank itself. For B&W I have a moveable house thermostat and set that to the temp I want so it shouldn’t cool down at all. OK for 20C but not 38C!
 
I think I'll give it a go with 5x7 first off later next month. I have a sous vide, so I can have a large water bath at temperature and keep the tank more or less submerged between agitations.

Maybe you've had an email from Keith, but he's putting together an order for 50 boxes of colour film at the moment.

I've put my name down for his current Kodak Ektacolor Pro 400 order - boxes of 50 sheets

My previous order got massively delayed because of the Kodak Alaris handover. But I now have 100 sheets which will last me for years and years.

My mother in law will transport them in person when she next visits. I didn't want to risk having them posted from US to UK.

I'm also interested in the Opticolor and I might end up getting some of that before the US order arrives

I spoke to Keith and he said he placed me on the mailing list. I’ll drop him a email. How much is a box in this order? Ektacolor is portra 400 correct?

He didn't know the cost yet and said "After the order is placed, it take about 6-12 weeks before the film is made. I do not have a current price. I have an agreement with Kodak not to ask for pricing until I am sure an order is going to happen. The last time I did a group order for 5x7 Portra 400 a 50 sheet box sold for $575.00."
