10x8 street portraits from last Sunday. 10x8 Sinar with shutter behind the 36cm Voigtlander Heliar lens, approx f8 for these, Fomapan 400 @ ISO 200, Rodinal 1+25. Lighting was extremely flat which is why I used the 1+25 dilution.

Nice work. Look at these confirms I prefer 300mm over 360mm. Even at f8 it’s extremely shallow.

In general, I wouldnt call 360mm lenses extremely shallow. It depends.
But the evidence given by these pics is that every woman everytime and everywhere carries her handbag, wheras absolutely no man drags his toolbox around town. :)

Talking about portraits I like fading/faded backgrounds.
I prefer the lovely sisters before Mr. Coolman because of the composition. Must have to do with the (to me) better placed background wall, too.

Hahahahahahahhahahaha

Do you know the age of your Heliar?
There has been some lens design changes over the early years.
I’m afraid not. Is there a list of serial numbers with manufactured date somewhere?

Yes, of course, but don't ask me where to find (which couldn't be so hard).
...
Oh, luckily found one on my Mac :)

In the early days Voigtländer switched from the original to another design, but came back to the original so far.

To me the most interesting thing is that they later in the 1920ies created the famous Universal Heliar, titled as master Objektiv here in ermany, concerning its focusing difficulties (focus shift).
The Universal Heliar simply has the design of the very early design by Mr. Hartung. The difference is the middle lens which is able to move by turning a ring, giving the softfocus degree.

So from data and serial number, my 360 Heliar could be switched to a Universal Heliar - just have to built a new lens body with softness ring. :)

Men’s clothes come with multiple pockets and, for some reason, women’s often don’t. Sometimes they complain about this online.
