I went to the celebration of martin parr last weekend at his martin parr foundation in Bristol. They exhibited “The last resort”. Martin had stated that if he had to show one project to get through the pearly gates it would be the last resort.

Anna fox did a talk also. Was a great atmosphere. Tom wood was trying his hardest to Ji’s take pictures in the background by people kept noticing him lol.

The exhibition is still on. Well worth a visit if you are close.

Hope everyone is well and shooting.

The Last Resort and The Nonconformists are the projects I go back to because they stick in my mind more than the others. The first time I met him was at 5.30am on 1st May 2016 in Oxford. I volunteered to be his chaperone along with another person to make sure he didn't get lost among the crowds on May Morning. I remember asking him if he had slept well and he said he never sleeps well when he has to get up early. It was a memorable session, chatting with him, watching and documenting him at work. He was surprised I was using film and didn't have a flash. One of his shots from that morning is in his book on Oxford university.

Here he is on that morning photographing the walking tree.

What a great memorable story. Hilarious picture.

Anna fox was taught by him. Seems like he had big influence on his pupils. It was as if they became family.

Martin Parr's last black and white project, A Fair Day, is now on show at the Photographers' Gallery in London.

I have a photographer gallery membership. I will check this out this weekend. I had a feeling it’s in the print gallery down stairs next to the bookshop.
