I have just treated myself to another large format camera.
Originally I thought I had a lens for the camera but, I just realised I don't have a lens board.

I know my Schneider 240mm apo will work with the afforded bellows extensions but, my 240 lens is in a Sinar 140x140 copal 3 panel.
This will not fit the tiny camra.

What to do?

Buy another lens or try and find a copal 3 lens board for my new Tachihara?

Moreover, what lens boards fit the Tachihara 4X5"?

I really beed some help here.

My 240mm f5.6 Nikkor W and is also in a Copal 3, it fit's my Wista with no problems. Just remount your lens to a Linhof/Wista style board which the Tachihara's also use, and make an adapter board.

OK, as I understand what you are saying, linhof/Wista style boards will work.
Want to give me a clue as to where I can get one in the UK?

Tony.

eBay, £12.59 inc postage, for #0 & #1. a bit more for #3. I'll PM a link.

Ian

Even without factoring in using the lenses on a 5x4", it's worth putting all your lenses on smaller Linhof-type boards and using an adaptor board with any 10x8", as it makes lenses so much more compact and easier to pack and travel with.

Can you tell me what the footprint is for the lens board I need?
I am really struggling here.
Linhof Linhof sell one with external dimensions of 96x99mm.
Will these fit?

That's the dimension, Linhof, Wista, Tachihara, Ebony, Chamnix, etc, and some Toyo's use them they are almost the de facto standard for many cameras these days. A £12 Chinese board is as good as a £156_ board.

I have many different Linhof/Wista boards, various makes, and they are all equally good.

Thank you so much.

Tony.

I was robbed.
The lens board is a crappy and flexible piece of 3D printed junk.

Can't be bothered to return it. I'll just use it as a frisbee.

Care to share the link to help prevent others from buying the same?

Most of the old cameras I have had seem to have lens boatds made out of thin plywood painted black

Using the search in eBay right now:
linhof wista lens board
And setting the filters to
Uk only
And
Used
And
Lowest price
All the results are aluminium boards
The cheapest board- copal 0 is
£10.78 delivered
The cheapest copal 3 is a genuine Linhof Teknika board at £32

I have just bought another Plaubel Peco , this time in 5x7 came with one lens board in unknown massive hole size.
Plaubel lens boards would make you cry - at least 5 different sizes none common to any other make as far as I know and they are advertised at stupid prices considering they are not desirable cameras due to the huge range of incompatible components.
I am lucky this one and the one already have use the flat 167mm square so it is possible to make others but I will make a Linhof/wista adapter board with the big hole boards - how - I will attach the converter board I already have to the Plaubel board.

Additionally the seller selling the Technika copal 3 board is more than 100% reliable and always has interesting things for sale .
And it come with the badge!

OK, maybe my words were poorly conceived.
This is what I bought.
In fairness to the seller I did not read the full description so it's largely my own fault.

Search for this in Ebay.

I found a supplier (albeit in Canada) for several boards I needed. They were fast, well made and relatively inexpensive.

That's the price range now for excellent aluminium lens boards. I did have a London based eBay seller saved with metal Linhof/Wista boards for £7 + postage.

There's a world of difference between cheap home 3D printers and professional 3D printing. The latter is usually barrel polished after printing and the finish superb, in addition the materials used are far superior.

I bought a lens board adapter (Speed Graphic to Sinar) from the supplier in Canada mentioned above and it works fine.

I have two lenses that are not on Wista/Linhof boards. The 450mm Nikkor M is in a Copal #3 shutter and is just too big and heavy for anything other than the 8x10, so it stays on a Sinar board. The smaller cameras cannot focus a 450mm anyway. The other lens is a 135mm on a Galvin board, but since I have a Galvin to Wista/Linhof adapter I may just move it over sometime.

The trouble with using more than one format and having a lens common to more than one, is remembering to move it between bags. I can get by without a cable release, but not bringing a lens is a bit of a show stopper!
