My normal 2 bath developer has always been Diafine but I was rencenly asked if I had tried the Barry Thornton 2 Bath developer.
Having looked up the formula I was surprised to see that Part A appeared to be a weaker version of D23 which I use and the only chemical in Part B was Sodium Metaborate which I also had.
After mixing up 1L of both about a week ago, i have been testig it on FomaPan 200 35mm and was quite pleased with the results so today I though I would try it out on 5x4. I should have used FomaPan 200 again but I had one sheet of Kodak TMY-2 left so thats what I used.
I chose not to pre-sok mainly because it was already 22 degrees in the darkroom so I couldn't really think of any benefit so i just developed in part A for 4 1/2 minutes and the same time in Part B.
The exposure was made outside in the garden using the Chamonix 045N-2 and a 90mm lens. The exposure was 1/30th @ f/11
This is a straight scan from the Epson V800, scanning the negative directly on the scanner bed.
