Just to let people know that after 7 years of deliberation I will be supplying developers like Pyrocat HD in liquid and powder form. Essentially if I have the raw chemicals I'll mix any develoer, toner etc, to order if it's economic.

I've not finalised prices yet but for Pyrocat HD they will be quite significantly lower than importing/imported from the US.

That’s great news Ian,, put me on your list as a new customer

Put me on your list of potential customers too Ian.

Mike

Im down to 50% of my 500ml PyroHD Ian mixed for me in Aug 2018 so add me to the list please

I've 4 of you in Yorkshire want some so I'll work something out. I've only enough Pyrocatechol for one litre and that's already earmarked for the Highlands :D but I have plenty on its way.

Ian

Just waiting for the Kilo of Pyrocatchin to arrive in the next few days, I've sourced the Potassium Carbonate at a good price (quite a few Kilos) and it's arrived, and it looks like I can (will) be extremely competitive price wise.

Once the Pyrocatechin arrives I'll be mixing quite a few litres and packaging some dry as well.

Ian

How much for your Pyrocat HD Ian including UK postage?

I know this is an old thread but are you still selling Pyrocat HD Ian? What is the shelf life of an open bottle? How much does it cost?

I've not really been selling chemistry the last couple of years. The shelf life of Part A is about 4 years in use, Part B a lot longer. I'll have a think.

I bought Pyrocat A + B in 2018 from IanG, and I’m now nearly out of the A solution — in fact, it’s been stored in a 250 ml glass jar with roughly 30 ml remaining.

This photo was made yesterday (17 January 2026), so I’d say it’s had an excellent shelf life. The negative still have good stain.

Very nice Ian. That’s exactly the type of photography I want to practice. Too many dull and wet days to go outside in winter!

I forgot to mention the film used for the test. It was FomaPan 200 bought around the same time, I used 1+1+100 for 12 minutes.

I bought some Fomapan 200 and have since been reading a lot about emulsion issues, albeit on 120 film. How do you find the 200 in 5x4 sheet?

What do you rate the 200 at Ian? I’m going to start at 100 when I eventually get around to some photography.

Also, was that a crop or full 5x4? If full 5x4, what focal length did you use and bellows extension?

I usually rate it 125

I've shot a ton of it in 35mm and 5x4. The 120 is essentially unusable because the quality control is quite poor.

I rate it at 100 in conventional development and 200 in EMA or semistand.

Ian

What is the situation with component chemicals in the UK? Are they readily available?
