Ilford Delta 100

I have been given a brand new box of Ilford Delta 100.
I've never done LF black and white photography before and was wondering what the character (if any) of the film was.
The reason I ask is, I don't want to be spending money on chemicals if the film is budget/happy snap material.

I don't think there are any Happy/Snappy large format films. I don't think Ilford make any either, in any format.

Delta 100 is a superb film, it's my main film for 120 and 5x4.

Is it a high or low contrast film or is that all controlled with filters and processing?

It is an excellent film with good sharpness and detail. Contrast can be modified with filters and development to taste. I always used ID11 with it and got really nice negatives. Shoot it !
