Has anyone developed 8x10" E6?

If so, do you pre-soak the film and tank when dish developing?
I currently use a Stearman press 8x10" tray but also use a 4x5 tank.
The E6 instructions (regardless of manufacturer) say pre-heat the tank/tray before processing but not the film.

Does this make any difference?
I'd prefer to heat the tank/tray all together.

Your thoughts are appreciated.

I've done it but only in a Jobo, not anything like a stearman. I've always done it with a pre-rinse with water at 38deg. The current Bellini instructions say to pre-heat the drum with the film in it, in your warming bath/jobo, but without water in the tank. Never seen any instructions saying to only pre-heat the tank and not the film.

Thanks.
I wasn't very clear there.

With C41 I have been soaking the tank with film in it plus the tank full of water (wet film).
With E6 I have been pre heating the tank with the film in it but the film is dry as the instructions suggest this should be the way.

I can't understand why positive film should NOT be pre-wetted before the first developer?

.Any idea?

From an email conversation I had with Bellini earlier this year about this very question:

.....We tested the wet pre-heat procedure with 35mm film and the results were fine but have not tested it with sheet film. The Kodak process, which is the inspiration for the Kit, actually states to avoid a wet pre-heat process completely. We therefore recommend the dry pre-heat process in our instructions....

I processed several sheets of 4 x 5 Ektachrome using the Bellini E6 kit last month and found I got better 1st Developer temperature control with pre soaking - results looked very good using rotary development.

It's some years since I last processed E6, I always used the Phototechnology Chrome-Six kits for 35mm, 120, and 5x4, the latter in a Jobo 2000 tank, these pre-date the roller processor tanks s and are inversion tanks. Phototechnology recommended a pre-soak for both E6 and C41, as did other manufacturers.

The pre-soak should be at a slightly higher temperature 43ºC
